PHYSICIAN PROFILE: Dr. Zahid Hussain, MD

 

Dr. Zahid Hussain is Board Certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians since 2005.  His vast experiences have given him a broad vision to serve both the physical and emotional health of his patients.  His education and training experiences have made him a healthcare leader to serve as an excellent choice for a Family Physician.
    Dr. Hussain obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biology from The College of New Jersey, where he was actively involved in Student Government as Vice-President the Off-Campus Student Committee.  He also was awarded First Honors in the state of New Jersey and Third Honors in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) at the national collegiate level in Public Speaking.  He also served as a research associate and published online historical medical references including The Treasures of Poor Men, by Thomas Culpepper from the 1500's onto the Yale University Library website.  Additional experiences include volunteering as an Emergency Medical Technician in New Jersey serving the local community as a first 911 responder.
    He then went on to acquire his medical school education from Ross University School of Medicine where he spent two years in the West Indies for his Basic Sciences and then acquired his Clinical training from several hospitals in New York, Maryland and Florida.  He then completed his residency training from SUNY Stony Brook University Hospital, Long Island NY where he was elected to the position of Administrative Chief Resident.   He also received the Resident Teacher Award by the Department of Family Medicine in Stony Brook upon completion of his residency.
    During his residency training, Dr. Hussain pursued a Masters in Health &  Public Policy at Stony Brook, NY to understand the challenges of healthcare today.  He received induction to the National Honor Society by Stony Brook for academic excellence in 2005.
    Dr. Hussain has a personal interest in whitewater rafting, sailing, camping, self-improvement, and holistic medicine.  He has been serving the Nassau County community since August of 2006 and currently holds hospital affiliation at Mercy Medical Center.
